The common ground

One base.
Clear boundaries.

Every Frostyard image begins here: a practical Debian foundation designed to boot cleanly, update coherently, and leave room for purpose-built layers.

What ships everywhere

The foundation is not minimal.
It is intentional.

Base carries the system pieces that should behave consistently across desktop and server images. Product choices layer on top instead of rebuilding the ground beneath them.

01

Boot and recovery

systemd, systemd-boot, dracut, EFI tooling, and signed boot components provide a modern boot path without treating recovery as an afterthought.

02

Connected by default

NetworkManager, Wi-Fi support, resolved, OpenSSH, and the core network utilities make the same base useful on a desk or in a rack.

03

Hardware-aware

Current CPU microcode, broad firmware coverage, fwupd, and TPM tooling are present before an image takes on its final role.

04

Ready to extend

Updex, EROFS tooling, compression tools, package metadata, and container prerequisites give system extensions a solid landing zone.

A shared contract

Tools, trust, and state
in familiar places.

The base includes familiar shell and system utilities, Git, GPG, filesystem tools, and persistent writable state for user data, configuration, and workloads. The operating system stays composed; your work remains yours.
